Responsibilities
Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.
Bathes, dresses/undresses patients and assist with personal hygiene.
Serves and collects food trays. Assists with patient feeding.
Transports, positions and drapes patients for exams and treatments.
Assists patients in ambulating.
Collects data including intake and output, weight, temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure. Recognizes and reports values outside normal parameters to nurse. Demonstrates awareness of age-specific considerations in gathering assessments.
Performs non sterile dressing changes.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing unit specific documentation systems.
Reports any changes in patient's condition or behavior to nurse. Seeks assistance and guidance as needed to ensure patient care is delivered in safe, high quality, and effective manner
Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Orients and mentors new staff members.
Qualifications
Education and
Experience:
High School Graduate or equivalent required.
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider required.
Minimum of 1 year of hospital experience required.
AZ ONLY: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) in state of practice, completion of a Patient Care Technician training program, or nurse extern (completed block one/first year of nursing school) is required.
TX ONLY: Certification as a Nurse Assistant by the State is preferred.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision.
